Default Gear box mount

Thought I would replace bush and spring as there was strange thumping noise under the car. After fitting all new parts there still seems a fair amount of movement so chopped old rubber bush in half and positioned between new bush and washer. Feels allot firmer but probably not as Jag designed it ? Any potential problems doing this ?

G'day Stu,

I had the same gap when I rebuilt my rear mount trying to chase down the 'thump'.

The 'thump' turned out to be a worn propshaft centre bearing and when I replaced it the 'thump' went with it.

Cheers,
Jeff.
