Default Having instrument light problems

Hey guys,

I own a 1995 XJ6, the car runs perfectly but the check engine light, transmission light and gas light are all stuck on. I tried reseting the system by pulling out fuse 12 in the back left fuze box and letting the car idle for a few minutes before putting it back. It didn't help. Also, my gas gauge isn't working, it works intermittently depending on the outside temp. Any insight would help.

Thanks

No doubt a relief to you it's running perfectly but any warning light or message is annoying and an indication of possible trouble ahead unless investigated.

The CEL has to be reset with a scantool. Pulling fuses doesn't clear it.

Given the additional issues, I'd suggest you have the codes read and post any stored or pending codes on the forum for an explanation of what they mean. Post the actual codes as the precise interpretation can vary between model and year.

I went to a AutoZone today and had my system scanned. The codes that came up were p0400 and p1199. I've looked them up on the blog and it seems that these are fairly common problems of the XJ owners. I think its time for me to take it in to a specialty shop.
