Motor Mounts ?
G'day Oliver,
Thanks mate, it'll be interesting how it goes and what difference it makes.
When you get your front end rebuilt it will transform how the car feels and handles, very satisfying.
Cheers,
Jeff.

G’day Oliver,
Thanks for those pix of the shim, I’m going to have a go a making some and see if I can sort out the steering pull problem that I have with my car.
Cheers,
Jeff.

It also occurred to me a tuned 6.0 in a fast road car or track car would be better served by the later mounts. I originally bought my xj12 for the engine to put in a series II coupe but decided to keep it. If I find a 95-96 xjs v12 I intend to swap the drivetrain into the coupe with these mounts if I can find them.
I'll be in England next week, going to ask around on availability.
Thanks Oliver. I really wish I had this information before doing my motor mounts. Could have saved a lot of money and had quality (and possibly superior) mounts in my car instead. I still haven't got my alignment issues squared away. I'm to the point $$ wise on the alignment I should have just taken it to a jaguar dealership and let them do all the work.

The only reason I found the later mounts was because they were on the car- it was a positive surprise for a change!
G'day Oliver,
After you sent me the pic of the shim I was about to make some and try to slot the bolt holes so I wouldn't have to drop the suspension very far and I ran across a TSB which suggested that if the shim method, to correct steering pull, didn't work to try and bias the camber of the front suspension by rearanging the shims on the upper control arms.
I did this on one side and it seems to have fixed it.
Cheers,
Jeff.

I'd be interested to know what your better idea was.

I completed this very job a few months ago due to my engine having dropped and it being free to jump off the failed mounts whilst driving, I was able to adapt the original engine mounts from the XJ81 and using new mounts from the XJS fit the modified pair of mounts to the XJ81. The result works perfectly and looks original.
