New To-Do List w/ Undercarriage Pics
So I've got an updated to-do list for my newly acquired '96 XJ12.
1. I performed an oil change last week and noticed the bottom of the oil pan was dented in from a P.O. running something over.
2. The power steering rack is leaking at the input shaft and needs to be replaced with a remanufactured unit. The fluid is dripping down the rack, and burning on the downpipe/catalytic converter.
3. The front sway-bar bushings are completely shot and are very very soft and loose.
4. The pinion oil seal in the rear differential is bad, causing gear oil to cover the plate under the diff. Does anyone know if this is an open diff or a powerlok?
5. The oil cooler lower mounting pins are completely mangled, probably from a parking lot curb. One of them is sheared back on itself, the lower mounting bushes for both are non-existent.
6. The upper and lower radiator mounting bushes are bad, all four need to be replaced, and the upper and lower hoses are all swollen badly. I have new dealer thermostats and gaskets to install while the hoses are replaced.
7. The condenser mounting pins have broken off, and the whole unit bangs around, which has torn up the mounting bushes, and is most likely the source of my A/C leak.
8. The undertray is missing and needs to be replaced to ensure proper airflow through the oil cooler, radiator, and condenser unit.
It's quite a list just from having the car on the lift for 15 minutes, but one thing at a time...
