Default Seat memory

I found out yesterday that I can not save a new seat position in one of three memories.

Or i'm doing something wrong
Or there is a malfunction.

The memory button does not show a red light when I push it...

When i just push the memory buttons, mirrors and seats move to the last saved position, but I do not seem to save a newly changed position!

Any ideas?

Best regards,

Frederik

just found a very interesting bulletin that says it might be a faulty module.

all vin between 720001 and 768224 had faulty modules that had to be replaced. You can check by disconnecting battery for 10 seconds, then it should be working again (for a while).

My car Vin is right in the middel of these numbers. Maybe it has never been changed before... the new module should have part n° LNA2165AD marked on it.

I will check in a couple of weeks.

best regards,

frederik

I posted an answer to this yesterday but it never got posted?????

I uploaded TSBs to this site for diagnosis/repair.
You are NOT going to like the price and difficulty of the seat repair.
I suggest moving the seat manually and go on with your life.

(About $1000 in seat position sensors and 5 hours labor)

If you replace one and and then weeks later another etc. you will have a dozen hours labor so do them all at once.

Seat repairs always got done under warranty but RARELY 'customer-pay'.

Yes the Swiss or Belgian XJ6 had a small block Chev that was cracked.
I have another SBC with a THM400 that I plan to install. (not that I don't have enough projects)

Default One step further

Ok, i moved the seats front to back in all different settings possible.

Now the memory light goes on when I push the button. When i place seats in desired position and push number 1 button i hear a beap.

When i take key out, the steering column goes up and seat goes back and when I start car again, seat does not go back to memorized position???

oops wrong button, I pressed thanks instead on new reply!

So there is progress or still the same?

Anyways, what key are you using? You should have 3 keys, 2 black and a green one. Don't use the green one.

Try test it with another key, and use different positions for memory #1 and #2

I'm not using the green key, I've read that this is the valet key...

I'm using 1 of 2 keys that came with the car, coloured black.

I already made progress because now the red light comes on when I press the memory button (before it didn't) and when I put the seat in an ok position and press 1 then I hear a beap that memory 1 is accepted.

When I turn car off, the seat goes back and steering wheel goes up as it should, but when I turn the car back on only the steering wheel goes back to it's memorized position, the seat doesn't and stays all the way back...

Best regards,

Frederik

And when you press the memory button now? No moving at all?

It must be one of the sensors that is failing, you could try to do some of the steps again. Move it to all positions.

The red light indicates that everything is okay.

Try the other key also and fob
