Spoke directly with dealer and obtained more information. No books or records whatsoever and only one key with remote. Stated an offer to sell at $6,100. Made offer below that number. Stated it must have a Pennsylvania title as it has the stickers on the windshield, even though those are stickers dated in 2021. Got runaround and held off by a Heisman maneuver until late yesterday that even with brake fluid leaking from rusted through brake lines, it was sold to a local Jaguar enthusiast who “had a couple of these cars.” Salesman was good enough to offer to share my email address with the purchaser. Possibly I can get this enthusiast to join our group.

They have brake solid line build up kits at the local auto parts stores but the question is if it is safe to drive in present condition

But then it just may pertain to fuel lines

The practice of getting the angles and fit on the first try is questionable

Just observing from afar

The salesman verified that it was brake fluid, he stuck a finger into the puddle and smelt of it. His late, after hours email stated how they contacted the local buyer and got him into the dealership just before closing so they could close the deal. In other words, they were pressured to move the local buyer forward as I had stated an offer and was ready to place a deposit. My offer took into account that they only had one key & remote, no manuals or records; and the condition. I also placed the requirement that they must have a title issued from within the United States. So pressure was on them. Time to paint or get off the ladder. So the local buyer ponied up, and bought. To take delivery and drive home, they just topped up the brake fluid. So the new buyer has got an issue that needs immediate attention right out of the gate.

Well there's nothing that a dealer likes more than "competing" buyers. Real or fake. Apparently the car was good enough in person to take home, even in that unsafe condition. Seems like the car was parked outside on grass for a long time. I foresee many more issues.

That was an interesting story dlstipp, thanks. Who knows if we will ever find out about its 95 LWB build mystery. Unless it was @WinterJag that took it home?

If @WinterJag is still active, possibly they will announce their recent purchase and let us know more.
I had a problem with the price level for an XJ12 with only one key&remote no books or records and an undersized Duralast battery. And the rotten brake lines point to far more problems. Brake fluid flushes more via the sieve method.

My ears are burning! Sorry to say it wasn't me. I never even got the chance to check it out, don't you hate it when life gets in the way of doing what you actually want to do. Based on all the things dlstipp said, and seeing that rusting brake line, it's probably just the tip of the iceberg, my offer would have probably been 3.5k, take it or leave it, of course with the title thing sorted as well. I bet that would be a great car with about 2-3k put into it, more if it needed some paintwork, but I know of one for sale a few hours from here in better shape for 4.5k so no real loss on this one. I wonder what they actually got for it and where it ended up? I'll have to keep my eyes open for a white x305 around!
