Default XJ12 motor rebuild

My 96 has a rod knock so I'm tearing down and doing bearings. Has anyone pulled the motor out of their car? Was it unusually hard or like any other big engine longitudinal car of the same era? Thanks.

I spect very few have had to pull their V-12. They are generally bullet proof. No idea on how much involved, no different than any other but I would think dropping it out the bottom might be easier??

I believe the x305 motor and trans were installed From the top like the xjs cars. It doesn’t look like it would be too difficult or anymore difficult than the xjs.
odd that you have a rod knock. Any idea what may have cause the issue ?

So I did the rods and mains in frame and I like the results. But since I'm mildly psychotic and the noise was so faint I just don't know. I don't think about it anymore since it gives me anxiety. But the bearings showed lots of copper and now it has new bearings and life is good.
