04 XJ8 Trunk not openning
I recently bought a 2004 XJ8 with 140k miles. The car is in good condition and I sometimes get suspension fault on my dash. The front headlights flicker and shutdown (at different times). The screen flickers sometimes and the auto headlamp does features doesn't seem to work because during the day it still turns on my lights.
However, I could live with these issues. I just threw them out there since it might be useful for diagnostic reasons.
The other day I went to pop my trunk open and it only opened slightly. The rear actuator doesn't make any noise and the trunk is stuck in a halfway closed/open position. I have checked all the relays, I am positive it is not in valet mode, and I've tried every combination of unlocking things with the key, remote, etc. My gas door functionality is still there. Is there anything that Jaguar has to which I can open the trunk manually?
Cliffs: Trunk won't open, I checked fuses and valet modes, everything checks out, actuator doesn't make noise.

re auto headlights, are you aware of the daylight running feature accessed via the nav screen?
Have you tried closing trunk lid and opening with a key in lock underneath lip?

I did try the key method underneath the lip and nothing. I had to take out my back seats and rip through the carpet to get to the emergency pop mechanism. I still can't figure out why it stopped working.
How do I disable the daylight running lamps through the nav menu? I'll check out the other thread. Thanks for the reply.

There are a couple of possibilities causing your trunk opening failure.
1 Break in wiring in rubber hose joining lid and body.
This is not usually the problem on these Jags.
2 Motor and micro switches or manual switch in boot lid-more likely the source.
I was not aware of emergency manual release for trunk lid.
Nothing shown on wiring diagram.
Can you post more details please-maybe US feature only?
Find user or vehicle settings on nav screen for lights

I was afraid to because i didn't know it there are any electronics on the other side that I would damage.
You wont do any harm removing the ski door
All the wiring is to either side. It will be very clear when you have the seat back off
I would use a nibbler and not a grinder. You don’t want sparks igniting the boot carpets
cheers
