2004 Jaguar XJR epb Brake help please
Greetings everyone,
Need a little help here.
Replacing rear rotors and pads.
Followed protocol as mentioned on this forum
Now I have a gap problem with the epb:-(
Parking brake was released as the car was turned off
I cannot get the epb caliper to meet,..., too much gap due to the new pads
Suggestions,..., its' obvious I erred somewhere along the way
Pics attached
thanks
sun going down:-(
Picture shows the gap
rotor is tight, does not move

Split the caliper again
Remove the 2 pins and the pads
Wind back the piston
Reassemble
To wind back the piston you need to take off the rotor or the second half of the caliper
Cheers

The next few pictures show the piston on the EPB protracted (all the way out)secondary to complete pad destruction. Also, the calipers were extremely dirty and the pins were unable to "slip and slide" secondary to grit buildup. The calipers were cleaned thoroughly and replaced. I did have a gap problem in the EPB originally. I turned the EPB piston all the way in, but thought in my ultimate wisdom, that I should turn it out a little more to decrease the number of cycles I would have to go through for recalibration. Now I know, thanks to this group, that you have to turn the piston all the way in for the outer portion of the caliper to fit correctly. Once complete, it took only three cycles to recalibrate the EPB and the ride is silky smooth!
Next weekend, front rotors and pads:-)
