2004 XJ8 glove box
Hello, I am having a very difficult time solving my glove box issue in my XJ8. The glove box latch releases, but it does not reset. I have to manually rest for the glove box to latch properly. It appears the motor associated with the glove box latch is not resetting/reversing. Any help will be great.

This is problem started after I had modular replaced that corrected my headlight, gas latch and window issues. Can someone provide me the location for the fuse that controls the glove box. I read earlier that disconnecting the negative terminal from battery could solve the problem. I just want make sure....

I think I had the same problem happening when my car was refusing to start. I needed a new BCM (Body Control Module). Unbeknown to me, the BCM also controls the closing of the glove box (I have a 2004 XJ8). The BCM was replaced and subsequently the glove box failed to close once I opened it. The car is back at the dealer tomorrow and I have been told that the BCM was faulty so it will be replaced free of charge. Will report when all done to confirm. The technician was 100% sure it was the faulty BCM as soon as I brought the car in for a diagnosis 2 weeks ago before ordering a new BCM. HTH

Hi,
Sorry to hear of your problems. The fuse you need to check is located in the cabin fuse box which is located in the passenger foot well.
The fuse is F10 and is 10amp.
You need to be a contortionist to get to it!
FJ--I think you mean front electronic module not body control module?

meirion1- I will double check when I get my car back from the dealership. As far as I know only the BCM was previously replaced due to the car not starting and I was told the part was defective and it would be replaced under warranty. As I am no mechanic, I may have heard wrong!. Will report asap which is about 48hrs.

Well the car is back and the glove box not closing had nothing to do with the BCM. Appologies for relaying some wrong info (although it came from the service advisor dealing with my issue). Instead, the glove box latch was replaced at a cost of 442aed ($120) after heated discussion with the technician who told off the service advisor for telling me rubbish info and trying to charge me 3 times what I ended up paying. As we say here 'only Dubai'
I think that it is time for me to sell my beloved XJ8 2004 as I cannot trust the dealer here and buy a boring Japanese car instead.

I would agree not to get rid of the car if there was some independent garages being able to do the job here in Dubai. Unfortunately there an't so the car has to go......It will be a sad day in the sandpit.

As I said before, it is probably called the FEM although in my case it was labelled BCM (the module they replaced which starts the engine). Again, I cannot be certain about anything at Jaguar Dubai since I have been messed around several times. Happy to report that the car starts properly and the glove box is opening and closing properly.
