Question Is 2004 XJ8 pre-wired for a CD changer?

Can anyone say with certainty whether or not the 2003.5 and up XJ's are pre-wired to accept their trunk mounted CD changer? As part of the D2B schematics they are supposed to be fiber optics so it's an important consideration if one is tempted to go the salvage route and buy a used unit.

I must also ask if the serial # problem is also relevant with regards to a CD changer. If so it would be absolutely a necessity that you get the correct serial (or code #) for any unit your buy or it would be lost money.

I think I found an answer to my own question. According to the VIN decoder my vehicle came with both a phone pre-wire but also a cd changer pre-wire. If that's correct then the decoder is absolutely worth the time.

Yes, how do you find the VIN decoder? Is it a ring that comes in a cereal box?

I found it here>
