Hello, 2004 XJ8 hid lights.

drivers side flickered for a day, now the drivers side light still works but is a reddish pinkish duller light.

Could it be the bulb or something else?

 

more detail:

the drivers side headlight is now dim. It is steady, turns on and off with switch but is a lower amber dimmer light.

please help, would like to repair this weekend.

Interesting. Is there any chance you can swap the bulbs to see if the problem follows the bulb?

 

now upon turning on the lights, the drivers side will flash on and off a few times, still dimmer than normal and then stay dark. when i turn the lights on and off again, this repeats. the light will blink a few times and then stay off. could this be a balast?

 

I believe the bulb is starting to go. I agree that its worth switching the bulbs from side to side or simply replacing the bulb.

 

confirmed. it was the bulb.
