Sounds as though you have a problem in your mechatronic/valve body unit. either solenoids or clogged due to dirty trans fluid due to clutch material wear or electrical connection. How many miles on your tranny fluid?

First thing to do is CLEAR ADAPTATIONS and/or UPDATE SOFTWARE.
Plenty of info about TSBs and software updates throughout the history of these gearboxes.

pan with filter and 7 liter/ quart of zf lifeguard 6 oil is the way to go . But the car has to be leveled, filled till overflowing then start engine and go throuh all the positions of the gear lever and fill up some more until oil has min 40 degrees celcius 100fahrenheit fill up till it overfloats . Then close.

You might ask around for a possible ZF transmission specialist in your area. I found one who normally works on Mercedes , but since our cars have a ZF, he is comfortable with Jaguar as well.

The ZF 6HP26 gearbox is used by the following car manufacturers; BMW, Jaguar, Ford / Lincoln, Maserati, Kia, Hyundai, and Land Rover.

Surely someone in your area has seen one of these before?

Of course ! Trouble is if you make a decent living working on those common BMWs etc to fix their ZFs, why risk working on a Jag ?
The ZF is the same but there might be a few "gotchas" in pulling out the box if it needs a major fix.
Plus if something Jag specific gets broken or needs renewal how do you get the part ?
If the problem is only in the mechatronic or something that can be fixed with the box still in the car there is no drama at all.

You have to find a transmission shop familiar with ZF and who are not lazy or already well on the way to being millionaires.

clear adapts is not needed

get a trans shop to check fluid level and solenoid operation.

At this point, I think you should take motorman's advice and "CLEAR ADAPTATIONS and/or UPDATE SOFTWARE"

TSBs for you.
There are earlier TSBs from 2004> but they have been superseded over the years.
