Default 2004 XJR hesitates when you floor it..help

I tried to see if this car (2004 XJR) is going to get to 60mph in 5 seconds. It seems to go then shut down then take off again.I tried to power brake it and got the same results. My friend tried to tell me it's normal for cars with superchargers.I just thought in my head....????????? what the hell????I think it may be a computer thing ....trying to keep the car from spinning tires.Any help would be appreciated. It sure would be embarrassing to line up with a lesser car and get my doors blown off. Thanks for any help. Merry Christmas, Dave

Your friend i think is refering to turbo lag. there should be no lag in a supercharger so i don't think thats your problem. is it throwing any codes? check engine lights? You are better off posting this in the x350 forum too.

Shouldn't need a manual. The button is next to the shifter on that model I believe. I think there's a sport button and a traction button.

Hello XJ Triple R what's up dog- would like to help you with this. I have experienced this a few times in many different vehicles and under a plethora of circumstances, everything from water in the fuel on the Buell, to fouled plugs on a two-stroke. Can you answer a few questions so that I can understand the deal: from a full stop, what happens if you apply good takeoff power as though you were merging onto some 75 mph buckeye interstate, and make it into third, then ease quickly all the way to wide open throttle and hold it, allowing the trans to select the shift points as you rocket toward 130. If there's any hesitation or sputter under this type of acceleration, where you "drive into" the throttle, which avoids overwhelming the engine, then I would suspect a problem related to the state of tune or the quality of fuel (I'm assuming you are running 93 octane with NO water added). Water in the gas can be eradicated with HEET.

Some guy suggested to disengage the traction control.I'll try that soon.I'm not sure if there is water in the fuel.....I doubt it.It is 93 octane.I'll try the traction control thing and let you know the results.I've only had the car for 4 days. Thanks and take care,Dave.....big dog?

Just noticed the pics. Are you by chance "fire-roading" the cat? Operation in a dusty or dirted-up area may affect the Big Cat's breathing...

My XJR used to do that when the Traction control was having fits trying to keep the Pirellis glued to the road.. Hit the S button and the TC/off button.. and burn em up..

My we have a thin skin. I will be happy to direct you to the nearest dumpster. I will even donate $5 to a new wheel fund. We pick them!

Hey big Dave, I guess you have now seen that the Forum does not pull punches when it comes to style, but as you know, everyone's tastes are different. As far as things like "traction control" and "ABS", I am OUT on all of that stuff. I've never wanted it and never needed it. I'm going to get out my Owner's Manual and read how to disable the hated TC. Maybe that's all your machine needs. I would still like to know how the Cat performs when you whoosh onto the Freeway. Cheers

Try not to sweat it, Dave. I got heat for my tinted windows! It's all good. If you like your wheels, that's all that matters. I hope you enjoy your "R". I couldn't be happier with mine.
