Default 2004 XJR / Throttle Body Elbow

Hello all,

I have researched and have not been able to find what I am missing. I am trying to remove the Super Charger. I have removed the 4 bolts in the back of the Super Charger that go through the Throttle body elbow. I have unbolted the EGR from the elbow. The elbow still seems to have something holding it. I haven’t located any other bolts that could be holding it.

Im I missing something? I thought there was only 4 bolts holding it to the back of the Super Charger?

Thanks in advance.

Its been a bit since i did mine but if i recall, there is also a bracket on the back of the elbo that supports it at the rear..

You should be able to find an exploded parts view in the tech section.

Can someone please help me with this throttle body elbow? I have spent more than a day just in trying to get this one part off. I have removed the 4 bolts holding it to the back of the Super Charger. I will NOT come off. If feels like something else is holding it. I have looked and do not see any other bolts expect 3 underneath it like in a triangle shape. 1 10mm and 2 torx .

anyone with a picture of this thing? I have tried the general tech sect and come up with nothing. I read somewhere about 2 bolts on the side, but I did not locat any bolts on the side of the elbow.

Iirc tere are 2 10m bolts on both sides that have to come out to remove the elbow. If removing the sc i never remove the elbow. Only the 4 bolts and the hidden one underneath the elbow that bolts the back of the sc to the block.

I do t know where those 2 bolts are and don’t see them? The reason I am trying to remove the elbow is because of that 1 bolt under it holding the supercharger. I can’t get to that bolt because the elbow is in the way.

Apart from the 4 bolts you have mentioned and the EGR connection there are two bolts that hold the air intake elbow retaining bracket.

Referred to as elbow retaining bracket lower retaining bolts.
You have to feel for them at the back lower part of the elbow.

That is correct, if you don't remove this, the elbow will not come out. Look at the blue arrows on the picture. Its right under where you MAP sensor would be located.

That really helps ALOT!!! Thank you. I prayed and the LORD showed me where they were.
This is before I got back on here to see pic. I got the one out on the passenger side, but the one on the Driver side is different. The plastic wire harness cover behind the throttle body elbow is close against it. Trying to figure out now how to get to that bolt.

Thank you for that picture!!!

In the picture above the red circle vacuum port has a oring in it the always falls apart and creats a large vacuum leak and codes p0171, p0174, if it is the small diameter tube the xtype has a kit with the oring and plastic locking coolar. Dont change the brass piece. It is the brake booster on the intake for the x type v6. If the larger hopefully the collar isnt broken and find a replacement oring. And replace it. Its fun to do when back in place(sarc)
cut a slot in the bolt hole for that lower center bolt to aid reinstallation of the sc
