Silicone between throttle body and intake elbow?
In the process of reassembling the air intake systems after installing a rebuilt supercharger, is it appropriate to add some type of silicone sealant between the bottom of the throttle body and then intake elbow? it appears that there is some residue of previous sealant, but I want to be sure.

no sealant whatsoever. Uses a steel gasket and correct torque to bolts. Clean surfaces really help the seal. Being supercharged it's important. Silicone is evidence of a botch job.
Silicone is nice when you don't have to take it apart on a semiregular basis. On a throttle body or intake tubes, it's a mistake. Go with the O.E. type gaskets or seals on that application.
Just a thought concerning silicone sealant. I have worked with Industrial (RTV) silicone for many years in my job. It is a very good sealer but use it sparingly. Too much and it can ooze out making a mess but worse ooze in causing all kinds of internal problems. Never use silicone with a rubber or neoprene gasket. I have had the opportunity to experiment with all kinds of different sealing compounds. Had some good results and a few not so good.
Hope this helps.
