2004 XJR transmission fault light but no apparent issues shifting
Hey everyone, picked up another XJR a few days ago and have driven it a few hundred miles with no issues whatsoever and today after a few minutes of driving I got the transmission fault amber light come up by itself and no apparent issue with the transmission shifting. I pulled over turned off car then turned back on and drove back home without it coming back on.
Could this be caused by the trans fluid not being at the proper level? I have not checked the level as I just got it the other day, it has about 49K miles only and I assume it has not had the fluid changed.
I think I should probably play it safe and have it towed to my indy shop without driving it anymore to have the trans fluid/filter changed for starters and hope that fixes it. If anyone knows whether or not the trans fault amber light coming up by itself with no apparent shifting issues, no restricted performance light or anything else like that could be a result of low trans flluid please let me know!
Thanks

Odd alarms for no apparent reason, especially at startup, are often a symptom of a battery getting 'tired'. The 350's electronics seem especially sensitive to even mildly low voltage at startup.
If the fault clears after restarting having run a short distance and stopped (switched off) that can be because the battery has had a brief charge (130A gen !) and its no-load voltage has improved.
In short ... it's worth getting the battery checked.
I would i) check the battery ii) then check the tranny fluid level.
Cheers just now, from a distinctly Spring like Gloucestershire

A few minutes driving and getting an air suspension fault could mean the compressor is on the way out. Get the codes read, and see if you have got C2303 Reservoir Plausibility Error. If the compressor can't charge the reservoir in the allowed time, it could be a leak, or the compressor is running out of puff due to the piston seal failing.
Assuming it is the seal, our member 'bagpipingandy' sells a seal kit if you want to do a DIY job.
