2005 Jaguar xj6 soverign
Please please help my parents Jaguar will not turn over all lights up on dash and scrolling threw all faults although the car was running and driving fine before Christmas parked it up and battery went flat got nee battery but no starting car I locking and unlocking all ok but just will it crank any help pleaee we have also tryed the hard reset no luck there either we have had a snap on diagnostic tool but no codes showing up
tcozzie74, the newer Jags (yours falls into this arena) are very dependent on a good battery. I would say to put the battery on a charger to get it back to 100% of what it can do at the moment and then drive it to a local auto parts store. Have them do a load test on the battery. If they tell you the capacity of the battery is less than 75%, buy a new battery. Odds are, what happened is the draining of the battery damaged a cell and while it is good enough to do the locks and whatnot, it is not capable of turning over the car (due to the increased current demand). That should get you back on the road.
P1669 was the error code can link network malfunction was the code from snap on diagnostic kit
no P light on j gate either

I don't see that code?
Maybe P1696 instead? That is a CAN bus error code.
Also be sure and clear all codes so you can see what comes back. Otherwise you could be looking at an old code.
Chase the shifter light because if it's not on the car may not know if it's on P or N and is OK to start?
Replace shifter or check that the bulbs are working.

Thankyou for your reply we have gone to Essex Jaguar to pick a second hand J gate up for 100 notes lol plugged in and still nothing we are
going get it trailered to a specialist now as they recon one of the other modules are not talking to one or the other and they have the special diagnostic gear to sort out what’s what
we’re let you know what it was when we hear back
cheers
