My 05 XJ8 ran terribly this week upon startup. Raising the bonnet, I found a damn f...king squirrel had cut most of the wires that run in the bundle on the right side of the engine (looking from front of engine) above the injectors. MY mistake was I had not put the engine cover back on (even though it was only the day before).

I soldered the wires back together with heat shrink tubing being extremely careful to match the colors perfectly. The car now starts and idles perfectly, but will not accelerate above 5 miles mph with the pedal to the floor. I have the following:

1. Display says:

A. Restricted Performance
B. Parking Brake Fault
C. Fault Communicating with Vehicle ECU
D. Engine System Fault
E. DSC Not Available

2. CHECK Engine Light

3. Traction control light on (does not extinguish
when pressing the button near the gear shifter).

I tried to use my isoft Jaguar Scanner, but it says diagnostic not available;therefore, I couldn't get in the engine management to reset the check engine light and to read codes.

The car was running perfectly UNTIL the ******* chewed the wiring.

ANY help will be most appreciated!

Have you tried a hard reset?
Are you sure that the bu..er has not attacked wiring elsewhere?

 

Battery somewhat flat?
