Hi All,

Had to replace the following after buying my XJ8 that sat in one owner’s garage in California for 16 years. She now runs great!
- Alternator was shot. Had that and the idler pulley replaced, since they were in the area, today at Rad Air in Wickliff, Oh. Two weeks ago, I had previously replaced the serpentine belt and tensioner arm myself.
- Thermostat Assembly. I did this job myself, after cracking it while replacing the serpentine belt. Be careful doing a belt job. If you put sideways pressure on the upper radiator hose, you can crack the thermostat housing at the flange. Totally my bad for not removing it and jamming my arm down between the hose and the tensioner arm putting the new belt on. Don’t do that! 🤪
