Default Few issues with my XK8 - belts/pulleys etc

Hi all,

Having just fit the Welsh Enterprises thermostat housing last week, I had to be rescued from the roadside yet again in the XK. This time whatever happened took out the plastic idler pulley (altogether, the centre is still attached to the engine!), the serpentine belt and the top rad hose.

So I ordered up a new belt, idler, belt tensioner with steel pulley, water pump and rad hose, and hope to begin work next week.

Is there anything i should be wary of before beginning the job?

Does anyone have a belt routing diagram?

Any help is much appreciated.

That was quick! many thanks,

Are there any problem areas I might need to worry about when doing the job?

No worries. A mechanic told one of the owners here that a water pump retaining bolt broke when replacing the pump, but that's the first I had heared of that little drama.

When I had my water pump replaced during my tensioner upgrade the top bolt holding it in broke off. The shop worked on it one late day, couldn't get it, soaked over night to get loose, still no go, eventually it broke off. had it drilled out and all better now.
