Default 2006 XJ8 airbag light.

This morning at 4:00am I got into my car and the front interior light did not come on. This has been a problem, but I mostly drive in daylight so out of sight out of mind. Not being happy about driving 4.5 hours at 4 am I bumped the light to get it to work, ( this has worked in the past). A soon as I started moving the dash light for airbag popped on. When I stopped and restarted. The car after getting coffee, no light. Until I hit a couple dips in the road. The solid light. I stopped, picked up passenger, again no light at restart. After 3 hour on the road, I drove over a rough patch. The light blinked in time with bumps, the stayed on solid. Imam thinking I knocked a wire loose that works with the sensor mounted by the lights. Before I pull the light panel, am I on the right track?

Thanks!

From small problems do big ones start. Clearly "banging" a light to get it to work is not curing the problem, and seems to have caused another one. There is a sensors for the passenger air bag near the light unit. These check for presence of passengers.

In hind sight, yes it was a bad idea. In my defense, I did not think I hit it that hard.
