Default 2007 XJ Super V8 Gear Shifter Trim Cover swap

Hello! Does anyone know if it is easy or very tricky or if the XJ is quite sensitive when you change the gear shifter cover? The chrome trim surrounding the shifter has peeled off on some places on my gear shifter cover due to the rubbing of the shifter against it. I bought a used gear shift cover on ebay (photos below) which looks like that it is visually in very good shape. The ebay shifter that I bought doesn't have the part number so I'm not sure if it's exactly a compatible match or if the 2007 XJ uses the same gift shifter cover all trim levels that it doesn't matter. However, the ebay seller posted that is fits 2007 XJ8, VandenPlas and XJR. My car has the automatic distance cruise control also. Is it easy to swap that assembly? It looks like it is only held down by 4 screws and one wiring that snaps into place. Also, what is the white plastic piece with a metal tip sticking out at the bottom on the 3rd pic on the right? I know how sensitive and how hard Jaguar made it for people to work and change parts on its cars. I'm just afraid I might do something to the car if that part is swapped or I don't do a step or precaution during the change. I've attached pictures of the assembly. Any suggestion or comments would really be appreciated and might reduce some major headaches. Thank you so much

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Center to X350 forum. The Feedback & Suggestion Center is for posts about the forum and NOT for tech questions.

Members here with the same model will be able to advise.

Why don't you just paint it with chrome model paint? That's what I did.
