Default 2008 XJR Rear Suspension is down

Hi guys, the rear suspension on my car seems to have gone out as it's sitting really low. I'm going to take it in tomorrow, but just wanted to see what you guys think the problem could be. The front is fine, just the back is the problem. I had parked it for about an hour, started it up and noticed it was awfully bumpy, then noticed a suspension fault. Have it home now and it's not up at all. I had heard something about a relay or boot, etc. Thanks for your help

Could be a leak or rear compressor not functioning.

There is a separate rear compressor?

A long time ago there was a thread regarding re-building & troubleshooting the entire air ride system and I thought I read something about the front & rear being on separate air, perhaps it was a rear reservoir. Upon reviewing the parts book, I only see one compressor, unless I missed it some where.

The system consists of: -

- one air compressor - found behind the front bumper, driver side in the USA
- four air spring suspension units, one per wheel. These have the shock as an integral part
- one air reservoir in the boot (trunk)
- valve block - in the boot, distributes air to each spring
- control module - controls the valve block using inputs from sensors
- four suspension height sensors (one per wheel, three on later cars with only one on the front).

You need to get the fault codes read. Better not to worry until the prognosis, it could be something simple like a duff wheel sensor.

I don't know what happened, but I started it up a day later and everything has been fine since. It's a bit worrisome, so I'm going to take it in and get the codes pulled anyway. I can tell you that I had hand-washed the car that day just before it happened. Maybe I got some water somewhere I shouldn't have? idk. Thanks for all of the great info!!

Look under the trunk cover where the spare tire is. If there is a lot of water down there, you have a problem.
