Cool 3rd Stop Light - the center one...obscure part needed

Hi all,

So the third brake light was out on Mrs Boxx's 2004 VDP. I pulled the assembly from the roof and one of the metal locking/insert tabs broke Am I steamed? YEP! I'm looking for a replacement part of the assembly. The part is highlighted below:

I opened it up to see if the light was disconnected and to investigate why it wasn't functioning; it was disconnected. The light works, but the little tab thing needs to be replaced - the whole thing is up there and will stay, but I want to make sure it will with a new part. The entire shebang is 90 bucks! I just want little part...any help is appreciated!!!!!!

Guessing you won't find one. have you considered just cutting out the connector and soldering or crimping the wires together?

Thank you - the electrical wires are fine. The part I need is the one circled in orange - the gray part with the metal clip.

Check you local auto parts stores and see what types of clips they have. You might need to get creative is something similar in size.

Hi Boxx,

If you still have the "arrowhead" shaped spring clip and only the plastic base is broken, you may be able to fix it in position with a permanent adhesive such as J.B.Weld 2-part epoxy.

The spring clip itself is a very common fastener type, but vendors use a lot of different names for them so you have to be creative when choosing keywords to search. Here are just a couple of examples:

I am missing the same piece, I'm sure somebody was replacing a bulb and was too violent with it. I can't seem to find that part anywhere either. If you do find it let me know.

If it's a lamp clamp, you can always try Radio Shack or B & H Photo or the like and look for something you can modify for what you need. Small electronic stores can also be a source of goodies.
