Default AC Compressor

2007 XJR AC compressor becomes inoperative after about 15 minutes. I checked system pressure and added 24oz of R134 to bring the pressure up to 50PSI from 48PSI (ambient temp at the time was 105). Radiator fan is running. After I let the car cool (overnight) the compressor will become functional. Note:engine temp (as indicated on the cluster gage) is mid range when the compressor disengages.

Subquestion: Will the compressor shut down if engine temp goes too high (even though indicated temp is normal)?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on next steps.

Definitely it will stop working. I had a tired radiator fan and if I sat idling and before I saw the temp gauge rise the AC would stop working.

I too had a failing fan cause the AC to shut down before the engine would begin to overheat. A new (used) fan from a junkyard did the trick.
