Default AC only blows cold on driver's side

(RHD car)

Passenger side is fine. Driver's side only blows cold, or maybe 18/19degC maximum.

Not a huge problem until now that its winter, the cold air doesn't clear the windscreen very well at all.

Did I read somewhere that a flap can become dislodged within the heater matrix assembly.
Does anyone have any tips on getting this done?

Thank you

I'm sorry that a year ago no one came back with any help for me

After much investigation, in case this helps someone else looking for help:

The dealer wanted to replace the entire air control module/box with all the flaps and servos. Very expensive

The specialists say its definitely down to a faulty matrix. 3 hours labour plus GBP80 for a new matrix.

What i did:
1. remove the splash guards under the front of the car (quite difficult, actually!)
2. drain radiator with the tap at the bottom - careful, the fluid pours from 1" above the tap!
3. under the bonnet at the bulkhead, you can see the aluminium abd rubber hoses which go through to the matrix
4. follow the hoses around to the front left of the engine compartment (standing at the front of the car, facing the windscreen, this tube is on the left)
5. Disconnect the large rubber hose attached to the radiator from the aluminium pipe running to the bulkhead. There are two of these. Disconnect them both
6. push a bare garden hose into the aluminium receptacle of either one pipe and run it on/off sharply on and off to pulse water through the matrix to clear blockages
7. reverse by connecting garden hose to the other aluminium pipe to flush out in the other direction
8. connect pipe back together
9. refill with coolant via expansion tank, run and top up

Voila

Mine works great now!

Thumbs up

Thanks for sharing! This is definitely a post worthy of addition to the FAQ!
