Default additional key - AGAIN

hey,

It's me again - still trying to get a replacement remote/key for my '06 xj8 w/o spending $500 at the dealer. I did find a remote/key(uncut) on e-bay for $130, which is not bad - I called the dealer to get the key "cut" and they wanted $75 + tax to cut the key. Icontacted many locksmiths to see if I could get they key cut any cheaper - I can't find one locksmith that has the capability/equipment to cut this key. Does anyone know of a auto locksmith that can do this??? I am located in New York(Long Island).

thanks to all,
George(newbie xj8)

Try different dealer, there is quite of difference in the prices I got. My dealer charged $10 for the cutting - it takes less than 5 minutes.

If you only have one key you'll need to have the second one programmed at a dealship.(in addition to being cut the chip in the key needs to be programmed)
You might want to call around as suggested to see if any other dealers can do this job at a lower price for you.
Buying a key blank from one party, having a second party cut it, and a third party program it sounds like it may lead to problems (imho).
