Air Compressor Covered Under Select Warrenty?
Just heard from the dealer, on my recently purchased 05 XJR. They told me the air compressor and relay need to be replaced. Cost is over $1100. car has select pre owned warrenty, shouldn't this be covered? i'm told by others this shoudl be but shocks are not.
Try calling Jaguar North America. Call the Jaguar Roadside Assistance number, and then select one of the other options (I believe it is customer service or something) to reach Jaguar NA. If you want to do it yourself, I believe the compressor is about $400 and only takes about an hour to do.
What the heck! That's not cool!
Have you asked the dealer about it? I would get them to go on the record and say that it's not covered, and then complain to corporate to see if you can get it covered.

The Air Compressor is covered by Select Edition. Not sure about the relay being covered. BUT I KNOW FOR SURE that the compressor is covered by Select Edition Warranty. Call them back, tell them to check the DDW and ask them when you Select Edition Warranty expires. If it's not expired, tell them they better not charge you. They better replace that part.
Why do you need to talk to the dealer that serviced your car before you purchased it? If you are unsure of whether or not your car is a Select Edition, you can call Jaguar corporate (they helped me determine that my car is not a Select Edition certified car).
I recently had my air compressor replaced at the Main Agent, but not under warranty, as I bought car (7 years old) at a local small car dealer. The compressor was a service exchange unit and cost about 1/2 the price of the new compressor, but the Arnott Industries item in for US owners is new, for about the same money. Fitting is a 45 minute job if you know what you are doing, else it can take about 2 hours for the inexperienced, first-time amateur; (or so I am informed !).
long overdue update, brought the car into Huntington Jaguar on Monday, they kpet the car 3 days then told me it's not covered and charged me a diagnostic fee which after a big argument they "split" with me. Called 800 4 Jaguar and got someone very ncie who said he'd look into it. Next mroning I got a call from the dealership we made a mistake the compressor is covered, we researched it further when would you like to bring it back and we will refund the diagnostic fee. Have an appointment to drop it off next wednesday, and when the guy from Jagaur NA called me to ask me a few more questions before talkign to the dealer and I told him it seems to be getting resloved he seemed quite please.
Hopefully next week I will have the car back with a good compressor. I must say, the fact that after I picked up the car they researched it further and called and apologized was the first time i've ever had anythign like that happen, and if all goes though as it should next week, they will have made me a future customer.

I'm telling you. Jaguar North America is top notch! They will beat their dealers into submission if they do something wrong (in your case, claiming that your compressor is not covered under warranty).
By the way, I don't know if that would make me a future customer at that dealership. It would make me a future customer of Jaguar, though!

I trust they will make you feel happy , Alan's idea is very dandy too but it's hard to contain an owner into the brandship once they may start off to go wrong unless you're a loyal customer .
