Default Air/Heat Fan suddenly stopped while driving

My 2004 Jag XJ8 turned 66,000 miles yesterday. As I was driving I noticed that the air blower suddenly stopped and no air was moving. I could feel cold air in the vents but no air movement. I reset the air by pressing the off/on air volume knob. They usual climate control system lights lit up, but no air movement. Turned the air volume knob up-down no response. Because of the sudden onset I suspect a fuse or relay. Ideas??

Hi Bob,

I have moved your post from the forum for the X308 to the forum for the X350, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your U.S.-spec 2004 XJ8. Here you will find knowledgeable owners of similar cars.

Probably the most common cause of sudden blower motor failure is the blower motor control module or "resistor." The original design used an under-engineered heat sink that leads to component failure. Replacement modules with larger heat sinks are available from Jaguar. If you have soldering skills you can rebuild your original module, though it will fail again unless you replace the heat sink. For more information see this (sorry the Photobucket links have broken):

Cheers,

Don
