Default Air Shocks

I have a 2008 XJ. In the past month or so I have noticed that when I come out to get in the car after it has been sitting all night that the car is sitting very low, it only happens when the car has been sitting overnight, it never happens during the day when I'm using the car even if I have it parked for four or five hours, I only notice it when it has been sitting for several hours overnight. I especially noticed this in the rear of the car. Now, when I put the key in the door lock and unlock the door it rises up to the proper height, but a couple of times I had a "vehicle too low" warning that goes away after several seconds after starting the car. In the past I have never seen a "vehicle too low" warning or noticed it this low. That being said, it always comes back up to the proper height when the door in unlocked and the car started. Five years ago, or so I had new air shocks put on the front, but not the rear. Does anyone know if this means that I need new shocks in the rear maybe? The thing that I don't understand is that it always comes up to the proper height, but I never noticed this before.

Struts can leak at the top in colder weather.
If you poke around in the top of a strut not, near the cental nut, but the circumference of that area
you can feel something a bit like rubber but not very soft and a slight tan colour.
I suggest that you 'paint' soapy water around that area and any leakage will show up
