Air Suspension/Compressor RESOLVED
Am awaiting error codes for air suspension on my 04 XJR.
I suspect that the compressor is leaking. I can purchase a rebuilt one for under $400. In my previous threads, several have suggested replacing the seals myself.
If anyone reading this has done this, please let me know if it is particularly difficult. With proper instruction, I have the tools to do most things; however, I don't want to get in over my head if you know what I mean.
I understand that our very own BagpipeCharlie is the mnfctr of the seals. I found him on EBay. Is this the right guy. I notice the price is in pounds; I suspect the site makes the conversion, etc.
Thanks for all of your help. This is the best auto site I've ever experienced. It has truly made my repairs a pleasure!

YES it may just be a leaking piston seal thats causing your issues.
Our very own BagpipingAndy is the man that has reverse engineered these and sells them for much cheapness for a cost effective fix.
The instructions are very clear and concise to enable even me to do it....probably.

Fraser, it's me, Steve with the 04 XJR with 46K miles. Decided to start another thread since the others were getting a little tangled. Should get my code reader tomorrow.
I don't think your scanner can see a C code.
P1111 means no codes found.
Dismantle compressor and see if piston is fairly tight in the bore
if slack replace seal.
cheers

meiron1, thanks; good advice.
I am hopeful of finding out whether, or not, the sensor I have reads the c codes; as with many things computer, I may be holding my mouth wrong.
Have you any specific knowledge about the OBD machine I have? In other words, do you know for a fact that it doesn't read them, or are you surmising.
Considering how this tool has been recommended, I'm disappointed that no one has come forward with first hand knowledge.

Cheers! Don't know if anyone is still reading this thread, but I have new info. The code reader I bought does read C codes as well as as U and B codes &, of course P codes.
However, even though the Air Suspension Fault light is displayed, there are no error codes of any kind?
Based on the consensus of this forum, I will replace the compressor. First, I will leave the car running for a bit & after I turn her off, I will remove the air connectors, one at a time, to the shocks to see if they are holding air. If one of them isn't, then, I suspect, one of them is the likely culprit.
I doubt that there is any more that can be said of any use. I will post the results of my efforts in another post once I figure this thing out.
Appreciate all of your help. Steve

I read the info on your scanner and there was no mention of C codes.
No need to disconnect air lines use soapy water around joints and the top of the air strut to look for leaks.

Seals installed easily. Still getting: Car Too Low Message. Damn disappointing!. Anybody got any other bright ideas other than buying a new car?
The ride height probably needs recalibrating, plus one of the height detectors may be defective. You need the Jaguar WDS for this, so it's a dealer, (or independent Jaguar shop), visit. I find it hard to believe there is no fault code; a fault message means there should be a code !
Fraser, I think you are spot on that I should be receiving default codes. I'm going to replace the one shock. If I have issues remaining, will endeavor to find out why I'm not getting them.
