Air Suspension Fault question
OK, my 04 VDP has 137k miles so I wasn't entirely surprised to see the yellow light pop up with 'air suspension fault'
All wheels were at least near proper level....no dropping over night
I took it to the dealer just to be sure of the culprit....massive fail. After waiting 2 hours, they told me that they'd gotten the computer that had the ASM link wet over the weekend and it wasn't working.
I came home, ordered a new compressor and relay (will be here tomorrow)
I've been driving the Jag sparingly and the light has been intermittent. It came on this morning. I parked at my destination and the drivers front was extended as far as it could go and the passenger rear was bottomed out. This resolved within 30 seconds of restarting the car though. Any thoughts? The front air struts are about 2k miles old.....the rears are much older.

Well, I let it run a bit with a new relay and level out then pulled the relay. Height is in spec and staying constant. I'll check it again in the morning before I get started replacing the compressor
well, all wheel heights held for over 18hrs without the relay in....
bought a compressor and relay from coventry west for $315 and managed the install-start to finish- in 45-50 minutes.....not bad in my book for a job Jag shows as 2 hours...and charges $1200 for

The air compressor is the shortest-life component of the suspension, although it is usually only the piston seal that goes. Seal kits are available on eBay for not much money, in fact a member here supplies them. The compressor is a Wabco product used in other cars such as Audis

I did a little schmoozing with a tech and he pulled the service records for me before I decided to replace rather than rebuild.....the one in there had 80k miles on it so I decided replacing might be a better choice. Good thing to....the seal had gone and the piston had worn on the cylinder...
Anyway, alls well that ends well and it was an incredible easy fix.

I agree that was the right decision, especially the price you paid for a new compressor. $315 = £210. Most I've seen are around the £270-300 touch

That's interesting, I mean the fact that the piston was wearing the cylinder,
you got me worried until I saw your 137000 miles.
Mine is on 60000 miles and I think I am ok for a bit.
Shimming the seal or replacing it is straightforward but wear on the cylinder would mean spending money!

Hmmm, odd issue. This morning, travelling over some rough road, it threw that dreaded 'air suspension fault' message again. I pulled over and the right rear wheel was quite low. I nursed it to and aftermarket shop and by the time I was there, the wheel was at height. He hooked up the code reader and pulled a ton of codes (including the C2302 that I'd taken care of).....had no clue where to start so he cleared them and told me to come back if it happens again. I got home, parked it and yanked the battery out to take for testing at advance (800CCA....sticker claimed 850 and 12.9v) I left the battery out until about 10 minutes ago (roughly 12 hours) and there was no shift in wheel height from center to lip so I threw the battery back in....a very short hiss from the AS stuff under the spare and no codes.....I'm a little perplexed, but it does seem to be holding. Could the rough road have freaked out a height sensor? I had someone bounce the rear quarter and the linkages all moved freely for the sensor.
