Default Air suspension. What else

I have been away for a while now because I had sold all my Jags but just recently purchased a 2004 XJR. Car has been really well looked after except for a couple of little things. However I have a problem. I need to change the air compressor. I have a brand new one to put in but cannot for the life of me work out how to get to the front mounting bolts. Anybody there to assist me with this information.

Second problem the cable to the hood release is malfunctioning . Any ideas how to get the lid open. Thanks for any help you can give.

Bob.

Okay I am modifying my question. I now know these compressor bolts are behind the front bumper. So does the bumper have to be removed and if so how does it come off?????

No.You don't have to take off the bumper. The easiest way is to jack up and remove the tire. Then just loosen up the front half of the inner fender and drop that out of the way.You then have access to all the bolts and hoses that hold the compressor in place.

I have the Inner fender right off and still I cannot get to the bolts or hoses holding the compressor. The only part that is accessible right now is the electrical hook up. The compressor unit has three bolts holding on it onto a plate that faces the front fender and it is totally out of view and inaccessible from inside the wheel well as far as I can see.

I think I also loosened and dropped the drivers side of the plastic shield that attaches to the bumper and to the engine shield.Just watch how the washers/springs/bolts that hold the compressor are placed so you can reassemble them in the same order.

I have purchased the complete package that includes all those parts. All I have to do is separate the unit form the mounting plate via the three bolts I spoke about and then reconnect the hoses and electrical hook up. That is assuming I can get to those three mounting bolts.

Hi Bob,

As NEO Cat mentioned, the compressor is accessed by removing the splash guard along the underside of the front bumper, not via the wheel well liner.

Unfortunately the Jag-Lovers forum is migrating to a new server so you can't view my larger photos, but you can see my thumbnails and descriptions at these links. Hope they help:
