hello,
sporadically in the last year with car parked and locked, my alarm will go off for no reason. I unlock and lock the car and the alarm stops.
this has happened about a dozen times or so in th elast year. It could be happening more when the car is parked and i am not near it to hear.

does anyone know what could be happening?

does anyone know if there is a way to disable the alarm?

This is most commonly caused by high winds upsetting the standing wave of the volumetric alarm. Only cure is to set climate control to "recirculation" just before shutting down the engine and locking the car. I was lucky with a Mazda Xedos (= Millenia in the US). This had a switch to turn this feature off, except you had to turn it off every time, and I sometimes forgot !! It allowed you to leave car with a slightly open window when it was very hot.

 

it has happened to me, too.
it was a sensor in the hood that went bad.
sorry i don't know the code #, but it didn't cost me much. under $40~50.

I had this, next time it does it see if the driver display tells you that the bonnet (hood) ? is open.

The quick fix I did was to unplug the switch on the hood catch, and bridge the pins. It now thinks the bonnet is shut and no more erratic alarms.

You have to remove the plastic panel at the front of the engine bay, which is very easy...and then everything is quite obvious.

Proper fix is a replacement switch.

 

Thank You. I have seen while driving every now and then a "bonnet open" flash on th edash for a second or 2. I took your advice and jumped the switch. Thank you for instructions. If this works, this will be my permanent fix. I jumped the plug and sealed it in tape. I don't think I will ever buy a new switch. I don't think a theif is going to try and open my bonnet (hood)

 

That is exactly what I did to my own car, the switches are cheap if you wish to replace it, but like you I couldn't see the point.

Having the same issue here and it is quite annoying. Tried to locate that pesky switch but am having no luck. Mind telling me where it is located?? I have the plastic bonnet off so I'm ready to go

OK: EDIT: I found the switch and am able to unplug the darn thing but when so, I am unable to lock the car via key fob because I haven't bridged the pins.

I admit my ignorance here in not having a clue how to do this. Would someone please give me instructions? Thanks a bunch guys.

 

Well, I decided to go the replacement route on the switch. Ordered an OEM switch from Jaguarparts.com (which is actually Cleveland Jaguar) for $23.xx shipped and installed the booger myself.

Haven't driven the unit yet to test the false alarm but I am certain it is repaired as the "bonnet open" light was ever present before replacement and the old switch was quite weathered.

Will gladly walk anyone thru the process that wishes to quell their annoying alarm issues. Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can. About a 30 minute job that requires grille removal and the rest is as breeze.

Just thought I'd pass this along to anyone plagued by the issue.

EDIT: Nevermind on part number...dealer has it for $27

 

Would someone please tell me where the senor connects, mine is disconnected and for the life f me I can't find where the connection should be.

It is under one of the bonnet latches-not sure which one on a LHD car but it is

the passenger side on a RHD so I assume still will be on that side.

Remove black metal cover to access.

 

can you tell me were is the plastic panel at the front of the engine bay ? witch on is it !? there is os many of them so i dont know witch one is it! thank you!

 

I have been having this car for the last ten months and have had no problem whatsoever.
Last night at 3 a.m. we were woken by the alarm which I switched off using the key. but it continued ringing alarm after every few minutes with the head lights flalshing. I used the key to switch it off every time till I decided to start the car and found that the battery was down. Now I had to find the battery, (Last night only I learnt it is in the luggage compartment, and removed the earth terminal.
This morning I used jumpers to charge the battery and the car started and the alarm seems to have corrected itself. Till now many hours afterwards no problem. Fingers
crossed.
any suggestions f I did the right thing? How differently I could have dealt this problem.

 

Had the same issue myself and also had the switch bypassed......no further issues.
