Always-on 12V power source? FYI
I'm trying to power my little in-car security camera from a 12V source. I tapped into the fuse for the glove box release because, I presumed, it was always on. BTW, the fuse for it is in the RH front footwell. Instead of being always on, it looks like the car cuts power to the circuit if the car is inactive (i.e., not running, no activity of any kind with any of the electricals) for a certain period of time. It's a great idea to minimize the drain on the battery, but it also makes powering things a nuisance. I suppose I could tap into the instrument cluster or radio which should always be powered to preserve volatile memory but it's more work for me. It's difficult finding an always on circuit because whenever you unlock or open the door to check, the power is restored. Sneaky!
