Sorry to add another Mongoose thread to the plethora that already exists. My head is swimming reading all the threads on the Mongoose..

I need help deciding what package to get. As I am not a fan of knockoff items (if I were I'd be on the Hyundai forums right now), what I would like is an authentic Mongoose. Where can I buy one? If I order from Drew, it seems like I have to subscribe to Topix. From what I've read it also seems like software version 1.30 is the latest and safest to use.

So is it possible to buy an authentic cable with version 1.30? I dont want to buy a bunch of knockoff cables...Im guessing the authentic ones are better? How about the software...is there a better place to source it? Will I have less problems with an authentic cable, or are most of the problems which arise in the software itself?

Is this kit from British Diagnostics not a Drew cable? If not, how does it rate with Drew?

If I could Id just settle for an i930, Autoenginuity, or a Creader 8, but they dont seem like they are as comprehensive.

An original Mongoose will work with any version of SDD, either the older versions which don't require Topix or the newer ones which do. I would love to use an original Drew version as well but it's simply to expensive for my use. On top of the stiff price I would have to pay import taxes as well. I use a newer MongoosePro clone with version V1.31.03 of SDD which doesn't require Topix but requires you don't connect the PC to the internet.

 

If I could afford an original I would get it.

 

I'm assuming the original Drew Mongoose cable is more reliable, and possibly faster in communicating with the Jaguar computer, than a clone? Any other upsides?

 

And you get support, important when it's your business.
