Default New Front Springs - best source?

I was thrilled to see DCS' advertisment for two front springs for 175 pounts. I double checked with them: Yes they are identical to the ones Jaguar used when building the car and Yes this price is for a pair.

The double whammy came when he reminded me they have to add VAT (20%) since they are located in the UK. That plus the conversion rate kind of levels the field price wise. That brings them up to $318 and I haven't even calculated shipping costs. Wow $175 sounded so good on the surface :

If you know of any, sould you please share some other good sources for OEM springs 1998 XK8? This is starting to look like a bit more expensive plan than I anticipated, but maybe there is a USA location with really good prices, hence my question. I just want to bring her back to as "like new" condition as I can, that's why I said "OEM".

Thanks, I appreciate it.

Best price I found for an OEM set was $338 from Jagbits with free shipping. This is for the convertible.

First of all, since you do not reside in the EU, you are not required to pay VAT. Anyone who charges you VAT is taking you for a ride.

Check out British Parts UK (https://www.britishparts.co.uk/produ...it-JLM20712KIT). $US122.59 + shipping.

I can't say for certain that they are OEM, but then do you really believe that the OEM springs were manufactured by Jaguar?

You shouldn't be charged VAT on UK items exported to the USA. The 20% only applies to purchases/purchasers within the Eurozone. You may however have to pay import duty when the goods arrive in the USA.

Always try the forum Sponsors first!

Mike has already suggested Jagbits. Also check S N G Barratt who offer 10% discount to forum members.

A man after my own heart. I too have the ambition to return my car to its "As it left the factory" condition, or better. Here is my story so to speak Franks XKR Story.

So far I have not had too many problems but in one respect I am lucky in that the car was built in England, like me. One lesson I learned was its going to cost a lot of money. Before you spend lots of money on new springs etc check out the rust in those, and other, areas. The Jag is very good at hiding rust. Id hate you to strip it down only to find you have a lot of work to do before you can fit the new stuff.

I was only reading yesterday about a guy fitting his new springs only to find another problem. Will see if I can find you a link to the article. BRB

Here you go http://www.jaguarforum.com/showthread.php?t=87626 take a look at #7 down the page to see what I mean.

Good luck with your car. Would love to see some photos of your work in progress.

I have a set of factory installed fronts for a 2001 XKR Silverstone model.
2001 Jaguar XKR Silverstone Program #2023 | MotorWeek
It says they are 10mm lower than XK8.
I also have a set of rear stock XKR's.
I'll sell the set for $75 plus shipping.
Let me know dollwe@bv.com
