Default Any chronic problems with 2006 Super V8 Portfolio

It looks like the owners are going to be reducing their jag collection by 50% and selling the 2006 Super V8 Portfolio after all. It's in great shape and only 22,000 miles. My question is; in getting it ready for sale, are there any chronic problem areas that I should look into if the car has no apparent issues and has been garaged and dealer maintained? Thanks.

John

With that mileage, car should be absolutely immaculate. Do, however, check service and maintenance records. At 7 years old, the suspension air compressor may be getting a bit tired. It is a known short life component, and seems to age by calendar days. I had one going on 33k miles just after I bought my car.

It is immaculate. Thank you both for the "heads up".

I believe the rims are 20" with 35 series tires. If you "lust for the walnut in the car" they will sell you the whole car. They don't want to keep it.

It's a beaut ! You should be very happy with it, although you might find the ride a bit harsh on 20" wheels. And a full size spare too !

And the price is???

I like those rims better then the thicker 5 spoke Super rims. I've seen those on an 08 Super that was on ebay

She looks showroom new! I got my '06 XJR a year and a half ago with 62,000km / 38,750 miles and she absolutely still runs great. I don't think you'll be disappointed. One suggestion - get a trunk liner (Weathertech has one that fits well enough) to protect the carpet.

No doubt you'll love her!

I saw someone on another forum trying to do a retrofit but it became very cost prohibitive as the parts had to be ordered new due to (thankfully) the lack of available wrecked Portfolios to get parts from.

Sorry it took so long for my response but they are hoping for 52K.

You might be talking about me? I priced them up last year, even with a trade discount the out of the UK it was ~$7K for the complete set of vents & fenders. Oh and the vents themselves are a non-stock item, they couldn't even give a lead time.

I did find a single damaged fender at a wrecker in Poland from an XJR Portfolio (UK/EU model, not available in the US, but same vents) that had been in a bad front end accident, but the actual vents & the other good fender were long gone.

The Portfolio fenders are actually the same price as the standard ones, which should give you an idea of the asking price for the vents...

$52K seems a little high for the US market, but it's incredibly low mileage for a 7 year old car, so it might well go for close to that...as a comparison, there was one for sale here in Switzerland last year, they wanted SFr 48K (call it $50K) with 30'000mi on the clock took almost a year to sell. Also one for sale in Japan recently, higher mileage, went for ~$40K. Both markets command higher prices than the US for used Jags. Hope it finds a good home.

@Cambo

Yes, it was you :-) I'm kind of concerned about the non-availability of the power vents..... hopefully I never need to find out.

Good info on pricing from around the world. There was a very low mileage car (9k) for sale in Portland about a year ago. They were asking 60k for it. I was going to go and see it (because I live close and had never seen a Portfolio before) but they had sold it. They wouldn't tell the final sale price exactly but I gather it was around 55k.

I guess with limited edition cars it's all about how badly you want it. Looking on AutoTrader I can get a 2011 X351 XJ for 50k........ oh choices, choices, choices

@John

Good luck with the sale. Hopefully the car goes to someone who appreciates it
