Default Basic question

I am completely new to the Jaguar scene. Recently, my father-in-law passed away and left several cars. One of them is a Jaguar Vanden Plas (1995). It has less than 40k miles on it. Can someone tell me if this is a 6 or 8 cylinder car? I know nothing about them. Thank you.

Post pictures of the engine bay. If you have a 6. - never sell it…..Even a V8 with that low mileage.
Post pics of the Jag(s) he left behind.

And very sorry for your family’s loss. 🙏🏼

95 was other a straight 6, 4.0. Or the best V12 they ever made.

Welcome to the forums Marty,

The 1995 - 1997 Jaguar XJ saloon was offered in both 6 and 12 cylinder variants known by the factory codes X300 and X305 respectively. The following XJ (1997 - 2003) X308 was the similar body shaped V8.

There is some space in the engine bay around a straight six but the V12 is all engine.

X300 (Supercharged version) 6 cylinder

X305 v12

Either is a desireable vehicle. If you have further questions about the vehicle, please post in X300 forum.

Graham

Default Clunking sound going over bumps

On the 1995 Vanden Plas, there is a clunking sound whenever I drive over bumps. Could this be the shocks (or shock bushing)? Or should I be looking at some other component of the suspension? Thanks!

Take the vehicle to a Jaguar specialist and have an inspection performed so you know the overall condition and what needs to be addressed.

Where is the vehicle located?
