Gents; '07 XJ8 battery replacement time-what could be easier? The rearmost hold down bolt spins in place and refuses to emerge. I tried lifting the plastic piece to pressure the underside of the bolt head but no luck. Has anyone else run into this particular PITA and did you resolve it? Thanks! Steve C.

 

I had the exact same problem on my 2007 Jaguar XJ8L. Advance Auto Parts tried to get it off for about an hour with no luck. This was frustrating because Advance Auto Parts installs batteries for free. AAP suggested a local mechanic in downtown to help me. The mechanic was able to get my old battery out, replaced the stripped bolt, and installed my new battery. It cost me $40 for the labor. PITA, but not bad considering.
