bleeding procedure
Drain coolant, replace parts, refill via expansion tank, remove the bleed screw you will hear oil bubbles as the air escapes, fill coolant to the full height block inside the expansion tank. Crank car, turn the heater all the way to 90 so the heater core will be replenished and until the heat is nice and crisp inside the car let her get to operating temp, I usually do a small crank at the bleed screw to assure all air is gone when I cut her off, just a slight open to see if a hiss will be heard . If you get coolant out the crew and not air then your good..Next turn ac on all the way to 60 or lowest temp until she is nice and cold.I then cut car off let her cool and then I open the tank when shes cool and then add coolant if needed, most likely it will be under the full block just slightly after you top it off. This is how I have done it for many years....I know there may be other techniques but this is what I use on Jaguars...
yes it is I own both xjr and naturally aspirated 4.2. I have worked on 2.5,3.0,4.0,4.2na,4.2s/c ....s type, xj8,xjr.s- type3.0,4.0,4.2, and sc s type,x type, and xk 5.0 and xk4.0,xkr 4.2.......
There is also a 3/4 ” socket on top of the s/c that can also be removed to get the air out. Otherwise as this is a dead end pipe, this can and does leave bits of air in the system that keeps coming back. Should be loosened while the engine warms up until it seeps water, then do it up and fill to level.
