Hey all new guy here 2004 xj8 vp with a few issues.
Heater blower
was noisy and no air came out of the vents.Saw posts about hooking out insulation but couldn’t figure out what everyone was talking about so I dropped the motor and found this inside. Also hooked an equal amount out of the vents around the blower. Pain to remove but did the trick.
I wasn’t happy with the way the parking aid was working, I don’t trust those things anyway but I noticed in the back a speaker with a wire cut, so I reconnected it and now when I reverse I get the beep beep as it was but now I get a video game type tune coming out of my car, I’m assuming this is Jaguars out of the box thinking to differentiate between the beep beep of the parking aid and the noise to alert pedestrians. My question is is this tune changeable or can it be made to be the same as the beep beep......the beep beep getting faster would be more alerting to pedestrians in my opinion.
I am getting the lurch, it is very mild and happens rarely so can I nip this in the bud right now ? Is there some sort of transmission work that will cure this now rather than later when it may be more expensive.
Wipers work fine except on intermittent wipe the wipers stop on the left hand side of screen. I click the arm and they continue. When it has rained for a bit they start to work properly but every now and then they will stick. It does it if I do the single wipe as well. It seems to me that this may be the wiper catching although I can’t see any thing obvious.....any ideas anyone.
And finally is it ok to reverse flush the heater core on these cars ?
Im beginning to think that the pedestrian alarm was added by someone......does anyone else have their car play home on the range every time it is put in reverse ?
its been a few days now and it’s actually getting on my nerves so may well be disconnected soon and replaced with a white noise generator.
I live in NY....pedestrians like walking directly behind a moving car for some dumb *** reason, so I want to have something there.
More.......had the restricted service thing rear it’s head, checked on here and decided to follow the way for a leak test. So armed with some maf cleaner I went hunting. Soon as I took the cover off the engine the problem jumped right at me.....plastic hose from the round plastic thing to the top of the engine was split in half, so I repaired it . I also found the air box attachment loose on the throttle body and because I was on a roll I changed the fuel filter. Took a few blows to actually be able to blow through the old one so I’m guessing that was original. I also changed the air filter, old one looked black......
Just done about 100 miles running errands today and so far no warning lights....
Now my question, that plastic hose is 60 odd bucks from Jaguar.........and it does not look like it will last long anyway being plastic so has anyone junked that hose and put a regular hose in with a few jubilee clips.......
After doing all that lot btw the car is running super sweet now, and the average mpg has gone from 18 to 19.5.........
