Bluetooth to existing system
I just purchased a 2004 xjr with all options. The phone system is installed but I want to convert it to bluetooth. Does anyone make a simple conversion for this to adapt to the stereo system.
Seriously, did you even try a basic search? This has been covered many, many times on this forum. I have done pretty much what you asked for an answered this question only this week.

Post mentioned updated indicating total success in my case.

Before I start, I have been doing research on this for 2 or 3 days now and have read most every post. Not a single one mentions that when I press the phone button the screen reads "Handset in use. Mute and replace handset to continue handsfree call, or replace handset to end call." There is no over head microphone. So, do I have the phone module installed or not? There is nothing in the console, no cradle. Does that mean there is connector beneath the console I can plug a BTUM into or do I need to buy a $1700 raft of components and disassemble the car to the driveshaft to install bluetooth? For $1700 and ripping out the console and head unit, I'll hold the phone to my ear like the rest of the planet does. I apologize if I sound a little frustrated, but apparently this dead horse hasn't been beaten quite enough.
Are you serious? Really?
5 minute job to remove the carpet from the left side of the trunk, and LOOK, just below the CD changer, if a phone module is installed.
Another 5 minute job to remove the vents from the back of the center console and look at the black/red phone harness connector.

And yes, I was serious. I will look at both areas and see what I find. That said, if I find the phone plug and phone module, is there a Bluetooth module that is just plug and play and if so what is that? Thank you in advance.

You're right, Cambo351. I missed it. Saw the post and read right over it. But since my serial is in the 15's, I'll bet my module, if I have one, is too old. C'est la vie.
