Default Bluetooth FM transmitter that fit.

I just got my '05 XJ8 L. One of the few issues is that there is no Bluetooth connectivity. I thought about replacing the stereo but it doesn't look like it is a regular DIN situation. So first I am going to try an FM Bluetooth transmitter device. There are many on the market, but my first thought is that the lighter socket in front is tight and will need a form factor that fits doesn't there. I don't really want the fooseneck style with the USB ports on the top. Does anyone have one and maybe a picture of how it looks/fits?

I love this hands free solution that I added to my 2004 XJ8. Hands free, Bluetooth and VERY long battery life. I have had this for 3 months and charged it one time. It even tells you when to charge it. I can stream from my phone to this unit and it passes the stream via FM to the stereo. Great quality and you can also set the FM signal. Sits quite unobtrusively on the drivers sunvisor

I just got this today, works a treat and fits sufficiently away from the gear stick:

Default Thank You. Got a Scosche BTFREQ

I ordered a Victsing unit first. While it was wonderfully small and worked beautifully, the volume of it was too low and no way to adjust it. So I did more research and ended up with the Scosche BTFREQ. I had to go to Staples to get it. The sound quality of it is great. The adjustable volume is nicely loud and clear. Bluetooth connects fast with just a little tone. It fits in a way that allows me to use the USB for the phone power too.

FM transmitters don't work in L.A. County where I live. Impossible to find a free FM band that will last more than a few minutes before cutting out. So I just got a pair of BT earbuds that sound better than the Alpine speakers.

Earbuds work, but you can legally only use one ear. Fortunately, I'm not usually in LA

I recently was at a car stereo place that installed a rear view camera in my '07 XJ8 and I asked him about BT FM Modulators for heavily congested places like described above. He said units are made that have something which plugs into and disables the car's antennae when the modulator is on so you don't get cross-talk from FM frequencies. A little online research or a call to a car stero place will get you more info on those.

The one I got above completely overpowers the 1/2doz strong radio stations I've tried, no cross-talk and a very slight background white noise.

I use the Parrot CK3100 Bluetooth system. Not bad
