Bluetooth Issue
Just bought a 2005 XJ8L and was trying to set up the Bluetooth, not happening! I tried turning on the ignition to II, pushed the phone button, got Handset, tried to hit ##3#*# but when I get to 3 it plays the pre-set. It seems that one of the attempts it went in to SIG, but I can't get back to it again. What can I check to verify that it is in fact equipped with that feature? Am I missing a step?
Thanks
Thanks
Does your phone screen say "No BT phone" under the signal meter ?
If so thats an easy way to tell you have the bluetooth module.
I think bluetooth was only an option in 2005, it became standard in 2006.
Does your car have a handset in the center console ?

No handset in the console, not sure what you mean by the No BT on the screen. When I turn on the phone BT function (iphone) it just searches. My system is not a touch screen, just a standard audio system. Where would the module be located if it were installed?
I don't think it was standard until after 2006... my '06 says "no phone" when I press the handset button.
I occasionally have my phone connect and receive calls, but the mic is muted for some reason. Have to turn off and re-connect (not the re-pair) for some reason. Never sure if it is my phone NEXUS 4, or car. Just sharing that some times the mic dies not work.
fireflyer141,
Really dumb idea first make sure the mike it's not muted or anything like that.
If you got your phone to pair with the car, it means you have most of the parts in (the expensive ones). Do you see a mike - on the headliner between your visor and the roof console? If you don't see it there, you may be using an internal mike in the roof console - these are not recommended due to poor sound quality so you may want to attach the external one anyway. To check if you have internal mike in the roof console, unfortunately you need to remove it - it's an optional piece so it may or may not be installed.
If you are sure you have the mike fitted, there is a bypass plug that needs to be connected in the trunk to the voice control module connector - if you don't have voice control module. The reason is that the mike is wired to the voice module first then to the phone module and if the voice module is not fitted the signal must be re-wired with this bypass connector.
If you have all these and it still does not work better head to the dealer.
