brake noise even when not applied
I've got a 04 XJ8 with 102,000 mi. and I recently changed the front pads and rotors(less than 10,000 mi.). I started hearing a rubbing noise as if the wear indicator was scraping the rotor as it turned that happens all that time and becomes more prevalent as the brakes are applied and goes faster as the car moves faster.
I JUST did the rear brakes because they were due for a change and I almost hoped that I had been hearing the rears and not the fronts. Alas its no doubt the fronts are making the noise
The front brake job was easy but now I'm having some second thoughts. Are there any shims or bushings that mount where the caliper bolts are that may be worn, or missing that I missed during the service that might cause an annoying squeaking rubbing sound on both sides even when the brakes are not applied and the car is moving?
Any thoughts or ideas would be help, thanks in advance!
