I haven't been able to find this mentioned on the forum yet. The bumper covering/paint is bubbling quite badly on my 2006 XJ8L. I have several XJ8s around this year and have not had seen
problem before. Any ideas? Was it a manufacturing default or has it been botched and repair previously? Thanks guys.
That surely has to be a very badly bodged repair ! This is the first post I have seen on this subject on this forum, and I have been here since 2010.
Anyway, not too serious a problem to fix if you know a friendly paintshop. The bumper is plastic, and easily repainted; you could even do it yourself if you have the spray tools
My 2005 Super V8 has the same problem on just the top of the rear bumper,
in the middle, directly below the number plate. It started last summer. It has gotten worse, the bubbled clear coat has cracked and is beginning to peel away. I don't see any signs of a major accident, so I'll assume a PO had a cosmetic bumper respray done, that has gone bad. Maybe it was a spot job where there were some luggage scrapes covered up?!!?
I was also toying with the idea of getting one of those 1" boot lip spoilers from Mina Gallery (Like on my old 2000 XKR) and having it painted and installed when I get my bumper resprayed. I will probably do it in the Spring.
