Buzzing Sound (2005 XJ8)
I have 2 2005 XJ8 (one XJ8L; other VP with folding mirrors). On the VP, I hear a buzzing sound that last for about 3 seconds every time I put it into gear. The car shifts perfectly and there are no warning lights. The sound appears to be coming from the instrument cluster area. What could this be? The other 05 does not do this.

I have a 2008 VDP. Ever since I had it, there was a buzzing/ticking/scratching sound coming from behind the instrument cluster... bugged me until I figured out what it is: the RPM gauge indicator. When I take the foot off the gas, the car becomes quiet and I can hear the needle chrpchrpchrping downwards.
Of course it does the same when shifting gears or just changing engine RPMs, but you normally can't hear it over the background noise.

My Tach has always done that until it gets exercised a bit. It only does it on the way down. It's been a known issue on these cars. No one hears it but me in the drivers seat. Just do what every jag owner does about annoying sounds, turn up the stereo!!
