Can't get my cracked windshield replaced 'cause they can't get the "clips."
SubscribeTook my 2001 XJR to Safelite and they can't find the "clips" to replace the chrome molding. Anyone got some of these or know where to find them?

That's the link to the windscreen parts list, you should find the part number you need there and, fingers crossed, find the parts you need.

Thanks for the link. The link is for the 2003 model and I have the 2001. There is no mention of clips in the 2001 page from these guys whereas the 2003 page has multiple clips listed (and they are inexpensive) so I'm not sure what's going on. Would the 2003 parts fit? If I buy the 2001 rubber seal (Almost 300 pounds) does it come with the clips? Any clarification would be a great help.Originally Posted by JoeDredd

You did not realised, probably, but you are posting on x350-358 forum, that is 2003-2009 models....
You may want to post here:

You're going to get more relative help...

Yes, you are in the wrong forum, but I had a look at the Jaguar parts catalogueOriginally Posted by don_maclennan

and yes, there are no clips listed apart from one. I would say that the chrome moulding (or windscreen finisher, as it is called in the catalogue) is inserted into the glazing rubber itself, without any clips. This method was quite common in the past.
Best regards,
Thomas

Thanks all. Sorry for posting in the wrong forum... I think it now makes sense. Looks like they used glue on the early models and clips on the later ones. I'm checking with their support people to check before laying out $400 plus.Originally Posted by Thomas-S.

No problem at all.
I suspect that the trim would not glued on, but that there would be a kind of channel in the windscreen rubber into which the trim is inserted. In that case, the trim would have an appropriate form and not be flat on the "inside" (towards the rubber).
Best regards,
Thomas

Problem resolved Folks from classic jaguar responded with:
"You are correct, there are no clips for X308 windscreens. There is just a seal and a bonding adhesive. The finishers have no fitting effect and simply sits within the rubber and are secured by a single joining clip."
Thanks all.
